Technology and Algorithms Behind PD-Watch
At the core of Biomedical Lab’s innovation lies the PD-Watch platform, a cutting-edge solution designed to support both early diagnosis and ongoing management of Parkinson’s disease through advanced wearable technology and intelligent algorithms.
Two Devices for an Integrated Approach
PD-Watch Screen is designed for the early detection and screening of parkinsonian motor syndromes. It enables the identification of subtle signs in individuals potentially at risk, even in the absence of a clinical diagnosis.
PD-Watch Track is intended for the continuous monitoring of motor symptoms in patients already diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. It supports disease management at all stages, from the initial manifestations to advanced phases characterized by motor fluctuations.
Three Advanced Algorithms
PD-Watch leverages three distinct algorithms, each designed to address specific clinical needs:
PD-Watch Screen
- Algorithm for Screening Parkinsonian Motor Syndromes: enables the detection of early motor signs of Parkinson’s disease, supporting disease prediction and facilitating timely diagnosis.
PD-Watch Track
- Monitoring Algorithm for Parkinson’s Patients in the Early Stages: continuously analyzes motor symptoms in patients during the initial phases of the disease, facilitating therapy adjustments according to symptom progression.
- Monitoring Algorithm for Patients with Advanced Parkinson’s Disease: provides insights into motor fluctuations and complications typical of later stages, enabling personalized therapeutic interventions.
Versatile Wearable Technology
PD-Watch supports two types of wearable devices to ensure flexibility, scalability, and ease of use across various contexts:
- Professional Wearable Systems: Medical-grade systems used with dedicated desktop software, ideal for healthcare facilities, for users without smartwatches, and for applications that also require sleep analysis.
- Smartwatches: Commercial smartwatches used with an app and a web application, accessible from mobile devices and computers, allowing for autonomous, intuitive, and immediate use, complemented by guided rapid motor tests.
